TheTab installs in seconds. Pick your browser, add the extension, and you are ready to go. No account, no setup.
Click the TheTab icon or press Ctrl+Shift+1 (Cmd+Shift+1 on Mac). Every open tab closes and gets saved into a dated group, freeing your memory.
Open a saved group to bring tabs back. Click a single tab to restore just that one, or use "Restore All" to reopen the whole group at once.
Press Ctrl+Shift+2 (Cmd+Shift+2 on Mac) to open the side panel and browse your saved groups without leaving the page you are on.
Right-click any page for context-menu options: save this tab, save all tabs, save tabs to the left, save tabs to the right, and more. 7 save options in total.
The icon may be hidden in the browser's extensions menu (the puzzle-piece icon). Click it, find TheTab, and pin it to keep it on your toolbar.
Make sure TheTab has the permissions it needs, then reload the extension from your browser's extensions page. Pinned and grouped tabs are intentionally left open and not saved.
Another extension or app may have claimed the same shortcut. Check your browser's keyboard shortcut settings (for example, chrome://extensions/shortcuts) and reassign Ctrl+Shift+1 or Ctrl+Shift+2 if needed.
Use recently-closed recovery to bring back tabs from your latest sessions. To stay safe long-term, export a JSON backup regularly so you always have a copy.
