1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By installing, accessing, or using TheTab ("the Extension"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, don't use TheTab. It's that simple.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and TheTab ("we," "us," or "our").
2. WHAT THETAB IS
TheTab is a free browser extension that helps you save and organize your browser tabs. It stores all data locally on your device. We don't run servers, we don't store your data, and we don't collect information about you.
TheTab is provided "as is" with no guarantees or promises. We built it for ourselves and we're sharing it with you.
3. LICENSE & USE
We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use TheTab for personal or commercial purposes. You can:
- Install TheTab on as many devices as you want
- Use it for personal or business purposes
- Share it with others
- Review the source code (it's open source)
4. WHAT YOU CAN'T DO
Pretty straightforward. You agree NOT to:
- Use TheTab for any illegal purposes
- Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or disrupt the Extension (beyond normal code review)
- Redistribute modified versions claiming they are the official TheTab
- Use TheTab to spam, harass, or harm others
- Attempt to extract or steal data from other users (not that you could)
- Remove or alter any copyright notices or attributions
Basically: Don't be a jerk. Don't do illegal stuff. Don't claim our work is yours.
5. YOUR DATA & PRIVACY
Your tabs are YOUR tabs. TheTab stores everything locally on your device using your browser's local storage. We never see your data, we never receive your data, and we have no way to access your data.
When you export your tabs, the file is created on your computer. When you import tabs, the file is read locally. No servers involved. Ever.
For complete details, see our Privacy Policy.
6. NO WARRANTY
We built TheTab to work well, and we use it ourselves every day. But bugs happen. Browsers update. Things break. We're not liable if:
- TheTab stops working due to a browser update
- You lose tabs due to clearing browser data
- A bug causes data loss (though we've designed it to prevent this)
- TheTab doesn't work on your specific setup
- Your device crashes or your storage gets corrupted
Pro tip: Use the export feature regularly to back up your tabs. That's what it's for.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are NOT liable for any damages arising from your use of TheTab. This includes:
- Lost tabs or data
- Lost productivity or business
- Browser crashes or system issues
- Any indirect or consequential damages
Translation: TheTab is free. We're not responsible if things go wrong. Use it at your own risk.
8. MODIFICATIONS & UPDATES
We can update, modify, or discontinue TheTab at any time. We'll try to:
- Give you advance notice of major changes
- Maintain backward compatibility when possible
- Provide migration tools if needed
But we're not required to. Because it's free and we're doing this in our spare time.
9. CHANGES TO TERMS
We can update these Terms at any time. When we do, we'll:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- Notify users through the Extension if changes are significant
- Post the changes on our website
Continued use of TheTab after changes means you accept the new Terms.
10. TERMINATION
You can stop using TheTab anytime by uninstalling it. Your locally stored data will be deleted when you do.
We can terminate your access to TheTab if you violate these Terms, though realistically we have no way to do that since everything is local. Just don't be a jerk.
11. NO AFFILIATION
TheTab is not affiliated with OneTab Ltd, OneTab, or any other tab management service. We built this independently because we missed the original OneTab functionality.
12. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding TheTab. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
13. SEVERABILITY
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
THE BOTTOM LINE
Use TheTab. Save your tabs. Don't break the law. Don't be a jerk. That's it.
We built this tool to solve our own problem. We're sharing it for free because we think it's useful. If you like it, great. If you don't, uninstall it. No hard feelings.
